Description:

These Cichlids are a brilliant pearled tan color with accents of blue and an orange stripe on their dorsal fin. They also have spots on their fins when in the right light which is how they got their name ‘caudopunctatus’ which means ‘spotted tail.’ Males are significantly larger than the females at 3.5 inches instead of 2.5. And they all enjoy sandscaping their territory.

Origin: Lake Tanganyika

Water Parameters

Temp 74-79 F

PH 7.2-8.6

Diet:

A crushed flake food will make these fish happy but they will also love brine shrimp as they eat mostly invertebrates and zooplankton in the wild.

Live Arrival Guarantee:

We guarantee our fish will arrive alive to you. If one should not the cost of the fish will be refunded to you. Please send us a picture of the unopened bag within two hours of scheduled delivery. We can not guarantee live arrival if a mishap with the shipper occurs. We can not refund shipping, we can refund or replace the loss after pictures are sent and approved.

Acclimating:

Once you receive your fish, please take a picture of them in their bag to send to us. We would like to hear from you after you receive them. After you open the bag, acclimate them slowly in a container adding small amount of your tank water to the container every few minutes for two hours. You can do this with an air line hose and valve or just by adding small amounts at a time. Slow and steady changes will be better for them. Once you are confident they have settled in, move them into their new tank. They will lose some color during transport, so be patient and they will color up in their new home. Your home!

Our tanks:

We feed them several times a day alternating between brine shrimp and powdered flake food. Their mouths are incredibly small and only little amounts are needed to feed these little pears. We use inert substrate (sand) of various colors. We use sponge filters in all our tanks. We also supply our Caudopunctatus with many hiding places in varying live plants, mosses, malaysian driftwood and rocks. These tanks have shells on the floor giving them extra room to hide.
